HOW DOES THE HCRC COMMUNITY ESSENTIALS WORK?
On your first day, you’ll pay a one-off payment of £5 to register for the whole year. A
member’s card will be issued to you on that day. If you choose to shop that day, you’ll
pay a further £5 to do a shopping worth of £15.
You’ll pay £5 every time you choose to shop at the Community Essentials.
Your £5 will allow you to choose a maximum of 12 items on the shelves such as
bread, fruits, vegetables, tinned food as well as items in the fridge and chest freezer.
For instance, 3 apples may mean 1 item out of the 12 items you are entitled to.
Another example, x1 pack of chicken wings may mean 1 or 2 items (depending on
the quantity). A carton of 15 eggs may mean 3 items…
WHAT TYPE OF FOOD WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE HCRC COMMUNITY ESSENTIALS?
You’ll find a little of everything from dry to fresh and frozen African, Asian and
European foods as well as fruits and vegetables.
WHAT ELSE WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE HCRC COMMUNITY ESSENTIALS?
There will be a section called EXTRA STUFF where you can buy baby items, men
and women accessories, cleaning materials and more.
WHAT ARE THE OPENING TIMES FOR THE HCRC COMMUNITY ESSENTIALS?
Monday, Thursday and Friday from 10.30am-1.30pm. Each registered person is allowed to shop at the Community Essentials once a day, three times a week.
